Dear Prime Minister,

Congratulations on your successful election campaign in 2017.  My class and I have been discussing and following the election and talking about many of the major key issues.  Regrettably I feel there’s an issue that has been lacking from the debates.  In my opinion I think that the voting age should be reduced down to the age of 16.  We all know that you are a very proficient man so i'm hoping you will acknowledge my argument.

To start things off, I think that young adults should be allowed to vote at the age of 16 as it is important that they have an opinion and can be optimistic about their future.  Without a doubt some might argue that 16 year olds are not capable to vote and are too immature.  But I believe that at 16, our young adults are more globally aware and can make the legitimate choices towards the election.  Therefore this is why you should give 16 year olds an opportunity to vote and make the appropriate choices.

We all know that New Zealand is an excellent country.  I hope you take my argument seriously and make an effort towards my argument. The future of New Zealand is in your hands.

Yours sincerely,

Jeremiah
