Jeremiah's Speech

Does anyone here want to be a millionaire ? Well I think that one of the best ways to make your first million is to become a gamer.  All parents think videogames are a waste of time, but they’re not.  “Son when you grow up I want you to become an engineer.”  Well I can prove them wrong because I am going to explain why everyone should play video games.

Maybe a million is not enough money for you and you’d like a billion.  Did you know that in 2014 the creator of minecraft sold his game to Microsoft for 2.5 billion? Since then it has sold over 100 million copies having sold 53,000 copies a day in 2016.  Video game testing is a dream job for lots of people and could earn you $100,000 every year to just play video games everyday. A Video Game Designer can earn a salary of between $40,000 - $60,000 based on tenure level. The average Video Game Designers earns $50,400 dollars annually.

Video games can actually be good for you.  Your mother was wrong... Video games aren’t bad for you.  Older studies thought that playing video games were bad for the brains of young children. But in February, Italian researchers presented new evidence that showed playing fast-paced action video games can actually  improve the reading skills of children with dyslexia, while also helping to build their attention span.  The playing of videogames has also been shown to improve children’s fine motor skills and their quick paced decision making skills. Helping them later in life with problem solving.

Are you worried about your eyesight? Well that’s no problem because video games have been proven to not hurt your eyes.  Has your mum or dad ever told you that if you play too many video games you’re going to go blind?  Well do not trust them because believe it or not some studies say that playing action video games can improve a person's vision.                  The unexpected benefits that come from shooting bad guys include improved visual attention. Which is a person’s ability to notice small details. Another benefit is contrast sensitivity - this is a person’s ability to differentiate between shades of colour.

Did you know that games like call of duty can improve the way you see things in the dark therefore improving your ability to drive at night?         The last benefit for your eyesight is in your eye hand coordination and visual reaction time.

Now that I have explained, you should
get your nose out of that book and stop living like a couch potato because I’ve just given you plenty of reasons why playing video games is actually good for you and why your parents should support your dream to become the next billionaire game designer!
